Her new single Varispeed (no in, no out) reflects on the psychological displacement and recalibration that happens after one of life’s big events. It was recorded on nylon string guitar, voice and synth, at different times, speeds and locations often against the backdrop of everyday ambience – kids shouting, birds singing, washing machines whirling – and then collaged together to symbolise the synaptic mesh of the mind and to show how the answers to life’s big questions can often be found in its tiny details.
